John is home!

Tuesday, after work, I got a call and he said "I am on my way home!" His management allowed him to retire a few days early. Us living apart since March, my job change, his planned retirement, him living with his mom, his father passing away....all of these things have been weighing pretty heavy on him. He finally just had to come home, and I am very happy he did.

It is all very new, but I think I can get used to this! The past two days I came home to him smiling...and I love it.
Monday evening Sadie and I went for a walk and I picked these flowers.

Another week has passed. I am learning a lot at Comanche High School. Some serious, then some make me laugh. A young man came into my office and asked to call his mom to bring him some different shoes. Why? The day before he had gotten spayed by a skunk and apparently his cleaning job didn't do the trick. I am here to tell you, no, it did not work! They we terrible, but his mom came to the rescue.
There is something different going on every time I turn around. The day really goes quick. Once a week I go to Abilene for additional training. Those trips are informative and fun too. I travel with other ladies in the Comanche school district. We travel through small towns and on the way home, we stop to do a little shopping. You know I have found some fun stuff.
This morning, the eastern horizon was red and orange with the sun peeking out of puffy clouds. To the west was a clear blue sky with the full moon on that horizon. I enjoy God's beauty on my way to work each day. Last week I saw 2 deer in a field up close to road. They just stood there and watched me go by.
John now has 11 working days left, then he will join me in this adventure. I am anxious to return to waking up with him every morning.

Today was very busy but time really flew by. I had an absence excuse today that made me laugh. Please excuse Keely, she was hauling hay all weekend and is sick with her sinuses. I don't think you would see that at Arlington High School! I love it!!

We are now in to September which is John's last working month. The 30th is his last day. Our weekends are busy...but together. However Sundays are hard. I have to watch him drive away and go back into a silent house. But only 3 more times to go! I am so looking forward to us having dinner together every night and waking up together every morning. With all of that to look forward, there is one thing that will still bring me sadness....not seeing my kids and grand-kids so often. John and I plan to visit the metroplex area at least once a month and get our "fix". Hopefully they will visit when they can too.
Tomorrow starts my 2nd week at Comanche High School. I really like it. I am not just keeping attendance, but coding each student with various information that results in government funding. The staff is great and I am finding where I fit in. I am still amazed at how my life has changed in the last 4 years.

As I sit on the porch this evening to share my thoughts, I took these pictures to share.

When I drive to work there are 2 different routes. One has a red light and the other has none. If I go through town (with the red light at the town square) I pass a man at the only cross walk. I think he has always wanted to be in a parade, because he waves at EVERY car that passes! He is really happy.

By the end of 2nd period, the announcements are done. I am proud to say that I stand with my hand over my heart and say the pledge of allegiance....in English only! We say both the US and Texas pledge. When I decorate my office, I would like to have each of the flags in it. We also have moment of silence. I use that time to say a prayer. Today it was for the Murphy Family. Grandpa was laid to rest and there was a lot of sorrow. He will be missed, but he is here everyday. In each of his kids, their kids and their kids. He leaves quite a legacy.

First day of school

No Sadie did not go! As you can see, I got a new purse for my 1st day. Funny I know, but some things do not change. I learned alot and met many new friends. The students all seem very laid back. Only 2 tardy and 8 absent today. No crazy stories. The entire lunch room is about half of the size of the eating aria at HDQ1. There are only 340 total students at Comanche High School, so overall it is small. I think this is going to be a really good move. It will be perfect when John is here too. His last day in the big city is September 30th. Emotions are all over the map right now. The death of John's father has given us all a reality check. Then life goes on.......
