Time goes by so fast...

Here we are in 2010 already. The holidays were made extra special with a white christmas. Then later we had the artic blast which really made life on the ranch a challenge. Saturday morning, January 8th, we woke to 8degrees and the pond being frozen for the 1st time....ever. It was frozen all the way across. John took the tractor and broke an area up so the cows could have water. I threw some pieces of ice across the pond and it made the strangest sound. In some of the pictures you can see the chunks. Later some ducks came in. How funny. When they landed, they just slid across out of control. I was able to get a picture of them later. You can see one walking on water! hahaha . The others found a broken spot and would swim and bump into the edge. It was quite entertaining. Later we put some water in one of stock tanks for the cows. EJ kitty was home and got to sleep in the shop with the wood burning stove. He is a spoiled kitty! The chickens are all good too. Their water was frozen, but I take boiling water out each morning and put it in the bucket to thaw it out. We are still getting eggs so all is well. Things have thawed out now and John has begun putting up more fence. Work is NEVER done a ranch!
